Sikkim police seizes huge quantity of drugs in Gangtok

GANGTOK: In continuation of efforts to crackdown on drugs, Sadar PS team, East District in Sikkim seized substantial amount of drugs on saturday which also happens to International Day Against Drug Abuse.

While the police and all other stakeholders were busy observing the occasion at various places in East District, some people were still peddling in drugs ignoring the good messages.

According to sources, the police department recieved a source information stating that one person named Yesar Arfat was suspected to have contraband substances and roaming around in arithang area.

Subsequently he was intercepted at Arithang near Rai cottage and on search of his body he was in possession of contraband substances around 230 capsules of Spasmodon and 20 tablets of Nitrosun 10 which were sezied.

Further he disclosed that the contraband substances was brought from one person who stays at hotel sidharth at MG Marg. Based on info the search of hotel was conducted wherein one person name Durga Gupta @ Golu was found concealing the contraband substances in which a total 7700 spasmodon capsules and 2600 Nitroson tablets were found and seized (10,300).

The market value is about 2 lakhs.

Case under relevant sections registered. People involved taken into custody.
