The Patidar Anamat Andolon Samiti leader Hardik Patel will be joining the Congress on March 12. Sources have stated that Patel will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Jamnagar.
He shared in his tweeter handle, “To give shape to my intentions to serve society & country, I have decided to join Indian National Congress on 12th March in Presence of Shri Rahul Gandhi & other senior leaders.”
He also tweeted “I would also like to state that if there is no legal hindrance and party decide to field me in electoral politics, I would abide by the party’s decision. I’m taking this step to serve 125 crore citizens of India.”
The Congress welcomed Patel’s decision to contest the election, saying he would be a good candidate against the Narendra Modi Government. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party have opined that Patel's candidacy will only benefit their party.
It is to be mentioned that Patel participated and led the Patidar reservation agitation.
