AGARTALA: Several Tripura unit Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders were held in Unakoti district's Gournagar following their mass gathering to observe Martyrs' Day yesterday for violating COVID-19 norms, according to police.
TMC president of Tripura unit Asish Lal Sinha is also arrested among the other leaders.
As reported, as many as 21 people were arrested for violating COVID-19 norms to pay homage to the Youth Congress activists allegedly killed in police firing on July 22, 1993, in Kolkata while taking part in a rally led by then Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.

The arrested leaders were put in temporary jail.
Meanwhile reacting to the TMC leadres' arrest, Abhishek Banerjee, TMC MP from Diamond Harbour, took to Twitter and wrote, "We strongly condemn the attack on @AITCofficial supporters in @BJP4India ruled states."
"We will NOT be cowed down by such intimidation tactics! On #ShahidDibas let me reiterate that TRINAMOOL will not budge an inch in its fight against the oppressive forces. COME WHAT MAY!" Banerjee added further.
