TOKYO: Wrestlers Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Deepak Punia of India won their respective quarterfinal matches in the freestyle 57kg and 86kg categories on Wednesday to qualify to the semifinals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 update:

Deepak Punia continued his impressive performance by winning 6-3 against China’s Zushen Lin in the men's Freestyle 86kg wrestling 1/4 Final to qualify the semi-finals.

While, Ravi Dahiya defeated Georgi Vangelov of Bulgaria 14-4 in the men's Freestyle 57kg wrestling quarterfinals, qualifying to the semi-finals.

Whereas, Neeraj Chopra gave India a strong start on Day 12 of the Tokyo Olympics by qualifying for the men's javelin throw final with ease. He qualified for the men's javelin throw final with his first try, easily reaching the automatic qualification mark of 83.50m. Chopra won Group A with a throw of 86.65 metres.

Shivpal Singh of India threw 74.81 metres in his third attempt in the men's Javelin Throw Qualification round in Group B. He failed to qualify for the final after throwing 76.40m and 74.80m in his first two throws.

Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar began Round 1 of the women's Individual Stroke Play competition in golf.
