Agartala, April 12, 2020:
Tripura Health Department has decided to test the swab samples of all the 769 people who are being quarantined to check the status of coronavirus.
The decisions has been taken by the State Government following the second COVID-19 positive case.
Briefing the media, Health Secretary Debasish Basu said, “As on April 11, total 769 persons are under observation, 156 persons in Quarantine Facility and 613 persons are in Home quarantine. All of them will undergo COVID-19 test in a week.”
It may be mentioned here that two positive cases have been reported in the State so far and both the patients are under proper care in the dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
He also stated that a random check of 10 percent residents within 1 km radius of the first COVID-19 patient’s residence in Gomati district would be conducted soon.
According to the latest surveillance report, as many as 10,585 persons, including international travelers, have been quarantined in Tripura. 9,816 persons among them have already completed the 14 days observation period. Besides, total 361 samples have been collected and 337 samples have been tested including the two positive cases.
The Health secretary also stated that Asha workers would visit the houses of the persons who visited various Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres from March. If any symptom is noticed in anyone of them, necessary arrangements would be done for testing, Basu said.
State Surveillance Officer Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma said the infected Tripura State Rifles Jawan was in camp quarantine since March 23 last. He said that the TSR Jawan, accompanied by a co-passenger reached Dharmanagar in Tripura Sundari Express at 10.30 PM on March 18 last. He had stayed the night at Dharmanagar after his arrival.
Next day, he went to the camp at Kanchanpur and joined his duty. On March 23 last, he visited Kanchanpur Hospital and informed the concerned medical officer and since then he was quarantined, the State Surveillance Officer said.
He also stated that altogether 35 persons who were came in contact with the infected TSR jawan were already identified and quarantined.
