Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has stepped down from the chair of state BJP chief, four years after holding the post.
Biplab has been succeeded by Dr. Manik Saha, who handled the organization since he joined the party.
Saha, who has successfully shouldered responsibilities like Pristha Pramukh in-charge, booth managing committee chairman and as member of the party’s election committee, has been handed over the charge of party chief by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat.
Sekhawat handled the organizational elections of the party as election observer, along with UP minister Mahendra Singh.

Speaking at a media conference here in the party state head quarters, Sekhawat said, “The North East drew national attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power”. He also hoped that the party state unit would achieve new heights under the leadership of Saha.
"Organizational elections in Tripura were held properly in booth, mandal and district levels. The state level party election concluded with the name of Dr. Manik Saha", Singh told the media.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who hung up his boots, recounted his experience as party chief and wished him all the luck.
“Me and my inexperienced team succeeded in dethroning a 25-year-long regime of the communists. I would like to urge the new party chief to work unitedly with the family” Biplab added.
He also urged his successor in post of BJP state president to start preparations for 2023 state assembly election and ensure victory in 100 percent assembly seats.
In his debut speech as party state president, Dr. Manik Saha appealed all party workers to unite in furthering the saffron party's activities.
