In a shocking accusation, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has claimed that a few MLAs are running drug smuggling rackets in the state. However, the CM did name any MLA in this regard.
Addressing a rally on Thursday at Gandachera subdivision, Biplab Kumar Deb said that his government has taken strict action against the drug smuggling rackets in Tripura.
"While we were taking action against the drug smugglers, a few MLAs came and asked us not to take action against them. The MLAs suggested that if government has taken action against the drug business, the economy of the state will be affected and one thousand crore economy will be hurt", Biplab said.

Claiming that these activities will destroy the future of the youth, the CM alleged that few MLAs has collected commission from the drug smugglers, and thus, they did not want any actions to be taken against the drug mafias.
Following the allegations, the Congress party has asked the CM to reveal the names the MLAs involved in the drug smuggling rackets.
Congress spokesperson, Tapas Dey said, “It is very unfortunate that the MLAs are taking commission from the drug smugglers and the CM should book them first. Biplab Deb is also holding the portfolio of Home Minister and it is his duty to take action against those MLAs.” Dey further added that the people of Tripura also have the right to know the name of the MLAs who are involved in such corrupt practices.
