Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has allocated Rs 200 crore under the 15th Commission for the establishment of a ‘Cultural Hub’ in order to boost the strength of the state, which is the culture of indigenous and Bengali populace.

According to the CM the there was an attempt to destroy the cultural field after formation of Congress-TUJS coalition government in Tripura. Therefore, in order to hold on to its cultural strength, the current government has sanctioned Rs. 3.5 crore for various cultural activities and initiated a cultural calendar for reviving various traditional rural cultures including drama.

The Chief Minister also stressed on developing model villages in the state. “We have identified two/three villages in every block to develop them as Model Village under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana. We have also set target so that all development schemes of the central and state governments are implemented in those villages within the stipulated time and simultaneously other villages also developed,” he said.

Deb was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the five-day Milan Mela at Fatikroy Higher Secondary School ground in Kumarghat. He also announced a new project, a road connection between Kumarghat, 82 Miles and Kanchanbari.

“Under MGNREGA, a total of 9,38,798 mandays have been generated in this block and under PMAY, 461 houses have been sanctioned out of which constriction of 144 houses has already been completed. Besides, 4074 toilets have been sanctioned under Swachcha Bharat Mission of which 1575 toilets have already been constructed in this region,” he said, adding that as many as 27,974 Ayushman Bharat cards were already distributed among the beneficiaries.

“In Fatikroy, 17,782 free LPG connections have been provided, 4667 farmers’ families have been brought under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi Yojana and free electricity connections have been provided in 3963 houses under Saubhagya Yojana. Under Atal Jaldhara Mission, 22 water connections have been provided so far against the target of 4000 connections,” the Chief Minister said adding that two villages- Gokulnagar and Jagannathpur would be developed as Model Village.
