AGARTALA: The Tripura High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of a news published in several media where it has reported that a young married woman died by suicide due to humiliation after her video with a man in a compromising position shown in public.
Reportedly, the video of the young woman was displayed in front of her community members of the village and they gathered to hold a discussion regarding the matter on May 2.
Unable to bear the humiliation she had faced, the young woman committed suicide on May 3.
The court said in a statement, “...what followed was the grossest possible violation of human rights and extreme humiliation that any human being can be subjected to by fellow human beings through most barbaric acts perpetrated on her.’’

Although the court had noted that the news story would not be taken into consideration without full verification of the matter.
For full verification government authorities such as - through the chief secretary of Tripura, Director-General of Police, the Superintended of Police, Tripura South and the SDPO have been made respondents.
The court had also ordered to block the circulation of the video of the deceased woman on WhatsApp and other social platforms with immediate effect.
