Guwahati, December 10, 2019:

Royan scion and Indigenous people's leader from Tripura, Pradyot Manikya, on Tuesday has threatened to approach the Supreme Court if the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is passed,

Taking to Facebook, Pradyot Manikya said, “The Centre has created a rift in the North Eastern state by favouring few with Inner Line Permit, and excluding few from the legislation of the Bill.”

Expressing deep concern over the division, Manikya said, “As the division has been made by the centre, the NE region known for its unity has been facing trouble. If one state of the north east does not stand for the other, the integrity of the region will be lost. Tripura will have to fight alone and similarly, Assam, Mizoram and other states will have to do so.”

The indigenous people’s leader further announced that he will approach the Supreme Court against the contentious Citizenship Bill. “If needed, I’ll sell off my land and property to hire the best advocate to fire a case against the Bill in the SC, for my people and my country,” he added.

Taking a jibe at the BJP party, Manikya added, “I’ve left the party for my people and till Bubagra is alive, I will fight for our rights. No one can stop me!”

Calling out the people of the state, he said, “Don’t be a begger. Fight for yourself, we have that power within us.”

Terming the leaders at the centre to be enemy of the common people, the royal scion said that the leaders have “backstabbed” the indigenous people of Assam and Tripura.

Clarifying that the land belongs to the indigenous, the Bubagra of Tripura has also appealed the Centre not to mislead the people.
