Tripura University’s department of Business Administration has set up the State's first business incubation centre. The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises had sanctioned a fund of Rs 1 crore for setting up the incubation centre at the University.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, Professor Debasish Mukherjee, who is the Head of Business Administration Department, said, “It is, indeed, a good news for the state of Tripura as a business incubation centre has been set up here in the state. The entrepreneurs will get all possible assistance from this department to nourish their business ideas to an extent so that it can be used in the market..."
Elaborating on the issue, he said that an incubation centre is an institute that adds value to the ideas of an entrepreneur. “It is not necessary to be a student. Anybody...be it an entrepreneur, a student, or a teacher, can share his or her ideas with us and we will facilitate and add to the idea to a level so that it can get a marketable value."
"We have got three to four very promising ideas to work upon and if any of them sees the light of day, it will be a game changer for the state."
MSME-DI is also collaborating with the department as the implementing agency. The ideas that have been received by the university will be scrutinized in New Delhi and will be forwarded back to the University for further work. Each of the ideas will get a funding of Rs 15 lakh for development.
