Agartala, June 8, 2019:

Tripura’s Chobimura is no less than Amazon rainforest. And according to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Ram Madhav it has huge potential to boost tourism industry in the state.

Ram Madhav who visited Chobimura on Friday said, “This Chobimura is no less than the Amazon rainforest. It has huge potential to grow boost the tourism sector in Tripura.”

The BJP leader was in Tripura to attend party’s ‘Dhanyabad Rally’.

He was accompanied by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

Ram Madhav said, “As the state under the able leadership of Biplab Deb is growing fast it has the potential to boost its tourism sector and the present government is working on this.”

It was Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s first ever visit to Chobimura also known as Devtamura ever since he took charge of the BJP-IPFT government.

He said, “My government is putting efforts to generate employment opportunities in the state. I do feel that the tourism sector shall bridge this unemployment issue.”

“As you are aware that my government is also planning to upgrade Tripureshwari Temple in Udaipur in a bid to attract more tourists, this Chobimura shall also be made capable of attracting tourists from state and abroad,” Mr. Deb added.

Chabimura is famous for its panels of rock carvings on the steep mountain wall on the bank of Gomati. There are huge images of Shiva, Vishnu, Kartika, Mahisasurmardini Durga and other Gods and goddesses carved on the rocks.

These images date back to 15th-16th centuries AD. Chabimura is 30 km from Udaipur and 12 km from Amarpur Sub-Division. These beautiful images are curved with a lot of dexterity on the rocky faces of Devtamura which is steep at 90 degrees.

The hill ranges are covered with thick jungles and one can reach this abode of gods only after trekking through these jungles. The road leading to the river bank where the rock cut images exist are itself is a treat to the eye.
