DHUBRI: Two Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in Assam's Dhubri district for illegally entering India.

Despite years of promises from the Assam movement to the current government to stop illegal Bangladeshi migration to India, information about their (Bangladeshi nationals) contacts with Nepal and various parts of India has been revealed as the government announces border sealing.
Last night, Trilochan Das, Sub-inspector Dhubri Sadar police station, raided a tip-off and arrested two Bangladeshi nationals who were taking refuge at Siddique Sheikh's residence in Ironjongla.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as--Maqbool Sheikh (48), and Basir Sheikh (18), residents of Kathalbari village in Kurigram district of Bangladesh.
According to the police, the arrested persons are father and son.
The preliminary police investigation has also revealed that they worked as labourers in brick kilns in Nepal and other parts of India.
Maqbool is said to have spent the last 20/30 years in India and Nepal.

However, two other Indians, Siddique Sheikh and Asadul of Dhubri have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident, and further interrogation is underway, according to Roji Rani Sarma, Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhubri.
