AGARTALA: Following a fight at a border point in south Tripura on Thursday evening, two Border Security Force (BSF) officers were killed and one was injured when they opened fire.
According to police officials, the incident took place at a border checkpoint in the Silachari region of Gomati district around 7 p.m.
The incident was the result of a fight between a constable and a havildar about duty-related issues, according to officials.
The constable drew his service firearm and fired a shot at the havildar, killing him, suggest reports.
As per reports, Head Constable Sabbir Singh and Constable Pratap Singh of BSF No. 20 Battalion working at Khagrachhari BOP under Shilachhari Police Station in Gomati district went on patrol at the Indo-Bangla border at around 5.15 pm on Thursday.

They got into an argument while patrolling the border. Constable Pratap Singh opened fire at Head Constable Sabbir Singh with his service rifle.
Returning to the camp in a state of frenzy, he started firing randomly. Following this, the camp in-charge sub-inspector Ram Kumar was shot in the leg.
The injured BSF jawan has been admitted to GB Hospital.
In an attempt to save the officer and other staff, the border outpost sentry opened fire on the policeman, killing Pratap Singh.
Gomati district SP and BSF IG hurried to the scene after learning of the occurrence.
An investigation has already been initiated by the police. Various evidence is being gathered in order to determine the cause of the tragedy.
