Gangtok: Two persons have died and three critically injured after they were hit by a speeding utility today morning at Ranipool bazaar in East Sikkim.

The tragic incident occurred at around 6 am on Sunday.

According to police the driver, Jiten Singh (39) of Siliguri, West Bengal, who was reportedly in a drunken state, has been arrested.

"The utility first hit three people at 6th Mile and again at Ranipool while running away," police informed.

The driver was arrested at Marchak by police. The other three critically injured are presently in hospital.
