A woman’s dead body was recovered from a room at the Star Hotel in Maharajganj Bazar at Tripura capital Agartala on Sunday. The woman is suspected to be from Guwahati, Assam.
The deceased has been identified as 37-Year-Old Jaya Majumdar.
The hotel employee, who recovered the body, said that it had been hanging when he found it.
The hotel room had been locked from within since Sunday noon, and there was no response, following which the hotel staff broke the lock and recovered the dead body.
Jaya had booked a room in the hotel six days ago and deposited her Aadhar card in the hotel reception. From that Aadhar card, it was discovered that she was a resident of west Pratapgarh of Arundhuti Nagar of Agartala.
While searching the room, police recovered the driving license of Jaya Majumdar, wherein her address is given as Guwahati. Police suspect that she may be temporarily have been staying in Guwahati.

The body is now being kept in the GB hospital morgue for further investigation.
