Tripura Police have detained an individual named Anupam Sinha for defamatory remark against MP Pratima Bhoumik.
One Sumit Sarkar of Agartala lodged a complaint against Anupam Sinha in West Agartala Police station saying that the accused had made a defamatory statement against MP Pratima Bhoumik on his Facebook.

West Agartala Police station officer-in-charge (OC) Debaprasad Roy said that they started investigating the matter and the accused’s Facebook has been blocked following the complaint.
Anupam Sinha, who hails from Kalyanpur, was absconding according to reports. A team of police, led by Inspector Nityananda Sarkar, traced him in Manipur’s Ukhrul district.
It may be mentioned here that quite a number of youths have been arrested after making defamatory statements against Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb just after the formation of the new government in Tripura.

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Vice President and present Congress leader Subal Bhowmik was also summoned by the police for making defamatory statements on social media.
