Border Security Force Seizes 430 Kilos of 'Ganja'

Guwahati, January 9, 2020:

The Border Security Force apprehended two individuals and seized a Ashok Leyland truck containing 430 kilos of ganja (cannabis) and cash amounting to Rs 49,990, near Doradabri BOP under Coochbihar district in West Bengal.

Acting on a tip-off, the BSF launched a Mobile Check Post for checking the vehicles in front of Doradabri outpost.

In the operation, an Ashok Leyland Ltd open body truck bearing registration number RJ 18 GB 2960 was stopped and during checking of the vehicle, the party found some suspicious item in packets loaded in the vehicle. On opening the packets, the suspected Ganja was found.

In the meantime, both the driver and co-driver were apprehended by the BSF party and the truck containing 430 kgs of the narcotic substance along with the money. The apprehendees have been identified as Norang Lal (52) and Sardar Singh (45).

Upon interrogation, the duo revealed that the driver and co-driver of the vehicle were couriers only and were paid Rs 1,29,000 (Rs.3000 per packet) for the delivery.

The consignment of 'ganja' was reportedly sent from Toofanganj (Mathabhanga) under Coochbehar district to Jaipur (Rajasthan).
