Social networking giant ‘Facebook’ has unveiled a “Preventive Health” tool that connects people to health resources and sends checkup reminders.
The “Preventive Health” tool was first launched in the United States. It was designed to help users of Facebook find affordable places to receive care, set reminders to schedule tests and mark when tests are completed.

Head of Healthcare Research of Facebook, Freddy Abnousi said that the initial focus of the social media giant is on the top two leading causes of death in the US. This includes heart disease and cancer, as well as the flu.
American Cancer Society, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are providing the resources available in the tool.
The recommendations to the users will be provided on the basis of their age and sex.
Abnousi added that no personal information will be shared with third parties like health organizations or insurance companies. Hence, it can't be used for purposes like insurance eligibility.

Earlier, Facebook launched a feature to sign up as a blood donor in India, Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and the US. The tool also enables notification when nearby blood banks are in need.
