New Delhi, October 25, 2019:

‘Made in India’ products have replaced the ‘Made in China’ ones as the share of China in the Diwali idol market has fallen to 10 per cent.

Traders attributed the fall in demand of the China-made idols to anti-China product demonstrations in the national capital.

It may be mentioned here that China had held a record of 70-80 per cent of shares in the idol market in India five to six years ago.

Traders informed that India-made products were gaining demand over the Chinese ones.

The Indian idols which are now dominating the market are mainly being manufactured in Burari, Pankha Road, Ghazipur, Old Delhi and Meerut.

Although the Indian-made idols are making a comeback in the market, a huge threat to small-scale traders still looms in the lighting market. During Diwali, a large chunk of traders selling Chinese lights gain profit.

Made in India lights or the traditional earthen lamps still face threat from Chinese products.
