In a tragic development for food lovers of Guwahati metro, online food delivery application 'Swiggy'is likely to shut down operations in the city within the next 48 hours. The reason for this? The app has apparently been running in Guwahati licensed as a clothing business license.
As per reports, a team of the Food and Safety Department, led by officers Champak Pathak, Anil Sarma and Tarun Das had visited the headquarters of the app in Guwahati which is located at Lachit Nagar in response to a complaint that had been registered.
As per reports, the app company could not produce any valid licence, and to their shock, the Food and Safety Department found out that Swiggy had been running in Guwahati under a clothing license.
In response to this, the food officials have given Swiggy officials a period of 48-hours under Section 31(1) and rule 2.2.1 of food safety and standard act for violating the law and ordered them to produce a valid license.
Chances are high that Swiggy might no longer be "serving delicious food at your doorstep" in Guwahati city soon enough.
