Vivo Beats Samsung in Smartphone Market in India

New Delhi, January 25, 2020:

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has surpassed Samsung in the Indian smartphone market with 21 percent share.

Samsung secured the third position in the smartphone market with 19 percent share. According to Counterpoint Technology Market Research report, Xiaomi emerged as the No. 1 smartphone maker with 27 percent share in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Good performance of its smartphones that are offered in affordable prices, has led to the progress of Vivo in India. The report cited that it grew by 76 percent year-over-year (YoY) in year 2019 and 134 percent YoY in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Associate Director, Counterpoint, Tarun Pathak credited the online and offline market strategies, especially in the Rs 15,000-20,000 segment, as the reasons behind Vivo’s performance.

It may be mentioned here that Vivo has secured its position in the top three spots. The brand’s goal is to provide customers better after-sales service experience, said Director-Brand Strategy, Vivo India, Nipun Marya.
