As the second wave of Covid-19 has been gripping the nation, the Northeastern region too is seeing a surge in number of Covid-19 cases.
Among the Northeastern states, Assam has recorded the highest number of Covid positive cases so far. In the last 24 hours Assam recorded 6573 positive cases of Covid-19 out of 102684 samples tested taking the total number of cases to 353574. Out of these, 1084 cases have been detected in Kamrup (M) district. A total of 74 deaths recorded in a single day taking the total death tally to 2507. In spite of the increasing figures of positive cases, Assam has shown a commendable recovery rate.
While Assam recorded the highest number of cases, Mizoram registered the lowest number of positive cases in the Northeastern region including the lowest death rate.
Arunachal Pradesh has recorded a total of 23519 cases so far with 360 cases in the past 24 hours. The death tally of Arunachal Pradesh is below 100. With 214 recoveries in the past 24 hours, the total recovered cases of the state has reached 23519.
Nagaland reported326 cases of Covid-19 with the past 24 hours. Dimapur recorded 161 cases, Kohima 100, Tuensang, Zunheboto 14, Mokokchung and Mon 12 each, Phek 7, Wokha 2, Longleng-Peren-1 each.
Sikkim is currently at 3130 active cases with 8871 recoveries. So far the state has 220 deaths. Tripura has registered a total of 44213 cases so far with 36974 recoveries and 453 deaths.
Meghalaya too is gradually seeing a surge in Covid cases with 6477 active cases and a total of nearly 30000 cases. The state has recorded nearly 400 deaths so far.
Manipur with nearly 7000 active cases is currently at the top with in terms of active cases in the northeast. The total tally of the cases is 41909.
