Haflong, September 1, 2019:
An 'ethnic food street', which is expected to acquaint tourist with the myriad delicacies of the region, was flagged open in Haflong in Dima Hasao district on Saturday.
Yesterday in the evening, the Haflong Municipal Board, along with Blue Hill society under the jurisdiction of the of North Cachar Hills (NCHAC) flagged open the Ethnic Food Street at Haflong town.
It was inaugurated by the Debolal Gorlosa CEM NCHAC. Amitabh Rajkhuwa, the DC of Dima Hasao, Sreejith Tivaham, the SP of Dima Hasao, S Gosh, Principal Secretary NCHAC, and Monjit Naiding, the Chairman of Haflong Municipal board were also present.
The people from the different tribes took part in the in Ethnic Food Street and showcased their ethic cuisines.
A musical evening by the Blue Hill society, and the street was thronged by many people visit who wanted to spoil their tastebuds with the ethnic food items.
The motive behind the food street is to develop tourism and to introduce the tourists about the different tribal food. The food street will open one day weekly on Saturday which is the market day of Haflong town.
