Congress gave ignorance, BJP gifted 'Ashta Aadhar' to Northeast: JP Nadda in Kokrajhar rally

JP Nadda, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, spearheaded an election rally as part of the Vijay Sankalp Yatra, in Kokrajhar, Assam.

Nadda also took a swipe at the Congress, “Kokrajhar became the land of strikes in India. Congress was the key stakeholder in igniting the fight amongst brothers”.

Reflecting on the contrast between past neglect and present progress, Nadda remarked, “What was Congress's principle? To keep you in loneliness and in ignorance. If someone has taken the initiative to bring you to connect to mainstream land, it is the NDA government under the leadership of Modi”, Nadda further added.

Nadda says, "PM Modi has come 70 times to Northeast in 10 years. All PMs together have not taken 70 visits as much as PM Modi...In the last 10 years, Union Ministers made visits to the Northeast 680 times. PM Modi called Northeast 'Ashta Lakshmi', what are those 'Ashta Aadhar?'- first: peace, second: hydropower generation, third: tourism, fourth: 5G connectivity, fifth: culture, sixth: natural farming, seventh: sports and eighth was to nourish the potential."

He lauded PM Modi's vision of integrating Bodoland into the national mainstream, citing initiatives like the Bodoland peace process as emblematic of this inclusive approach.

“70 per cent of North East outside the ambit of Armed Forces (Special Power) Act now”. Modi's leadership has brought peace in Bodoland with the substantial financial support of 150 crore rupees provided by PM Modi's government”, says Nadda signaling a commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in the region.

Nadda highlighted, “when you used to visit Delhi earlier people used to ask you a question about which country you are from. But today Delhi is not far, you are in Delhi's heart.” He noted the significant improvement in connectivity to Delhi, once a distant dream for many in Assam, now made accessible through improved infrastructure and connectivity measures.
