Mizoram Elections Result: ZPM vice president says 'agriculture is our priority'

The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) vice president Dr Kenneth Chawngliana has said that agriculture is going to be their priority.

The ZPM vice president said that once the government is formed, the government will focus on agriculture. He further said that self sufficiency in food production is among their main concerns.

"As of now we are leading on more than 20 seats, which is already the majority, I think we'll form the government with the absolute majority. (After winning) our main priority will be agriculture, to be self-sufficient in food production and then electricity and communication and our young generation's affairs," he said.

ZPM is all set to form the government in Mizoram even as the party has taken a huge lead over its rival MNF with lead in as many as 26 seats. MNF on the other hand is trailing behind with just eleven seats in hand.

The ZPM in his election campaign has talked of bringing in a new system via which they aim to transform the agricultural production of the state and generate employment among the youth.

India Today Axis-My India exit poll had earlier predicted a clean sweep by the ZPM in Mizoram and had predicted that the party would secure 28-35 seats in the 40-member assembly. The MNF, according to the exit poll, was predicted to win 3-7 seats.
