“100 per cent sure of victory, I’m a local,” says Dispur independent candidate Jayanta Das
Independent candidate from the Dispur Assembly constituency and former BJP leader Jayanta Das on March 27 expressed strong confidence of winning the 2026 Assembly elections, citing his long-standing connection with local residents.
“I am sure because I am a local. I have always been here. I have even provided food and medicines during COVID,” Das said while campaigning, highlighting his grassroots engagement in the constituency.
He further added that he is “one hundred percent sure” of victory, asserting that the educated electorate in Dispur would make an informed choice in his favour.
In Dispur, the BJP has fielded Pradyut Bordoloi, while the Congress has nominated Mira Borthakur Goswami, setting up a multi-cornered contest in the constituency.
Das, who is contesting as an independent after previously being associated with the BJP, is banking on his personal outreach and local presence as key factors in the election.
