Akhil Gogoi alleges link between 61 youth deaths and BJP candidate Kushal Dowari in Sivasagar
Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi launched a sharp attack on BJP leader Kushal Dowari during an election campaign at Hahchara in Sivasagar, making explosive allegations and intensifying the political contest in the constituency.
Addressing a gathering, Gogoi claimed that a list of 61 Assamese youths who allegedly lost their lives is linked to Dowari, adding that he possesses documents related to the matter.
He used the claim to mount a strong offensive against his opponent, though no independent verification of the allegation was immediately available.
Despite adverse weather conditions, Gogoi continued his aggressive campaign across Hahchara and nearby villages, including Long- Kak- Gohain Gaon, drawing significant public turnout even in heavy rain.
In his speech, Gogoi remarked that the Assembly is not meant for “elite or high-profile individuals” but is a platform to resolve the problems of the poor and marginalised sections of society.
The campaign meeting also saw the presence of several leaders and workers from opposition alliance partners, including the Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of India, indicating coordinated efforts by the opposition bloc in the run-up to the elections.
