Akhil Gogoi slams BJP, AIUDF as ‘communal forces’ at Dhubri rally
Raijor Dal founder and leader Akhil Gogoi on April 5 launched a sharp attack on both the BJP and AIUDF, accusing them of indulging in divisive politics and calling for an end to Hindu-Muslim polarisation in Assam.
Addressing a public rally at Balajan Bazar in Dhubri district in support of Raijor Dal candidate Abu Miya, Gogoi alleged that both parties are “communal and fundamentalist” in nature. He targeted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, claiming they represent “two sides of the same coin.”
In a controversial remark, Gogoi said that if peace and harmony are to be restored in Assam, the politics of religious division must end. He asserted that the state needs a government focused on unity and development rather than communal agendas.
Calling for a shift in political discourse, the Raijor Dal leader urged people to reject divisive narratives and support a government that ensures “peace and harmony” for all communities.
The rally was organised as part of the party’s campaign for its candidate in the Balajan area, with Gogoi attempting to consolidate support by positioning Raijor Dal as an alternative to both BJP and AIUDF ahead of the elections.
