Arunachal Assembly elections 2024: NPP chief Conrad Sangma leads major election campaign, eyes 29 seats

The National People's Party (NPP) has geared up to contest 29 seats in the upcoming elections in Arunachal, having filed nominations. 

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma initiated a major election campaign in Arunachal for NPP candidates, accompanied by James Sangma, National General Secretary of the Organisation NPP, and Mehtab Sangma, National Treasurer of NPP and wife of the Meghalaya CM. 

The team landed in Basar of the Leparada district at 2 pm to support Gokar Basar, a well-known MLA from Basar, who has rejoined the NPP after being denied a BJP ticket.

By evening, the entourage, including the Meghalaya CM and NPP leaders of Arunachal, arrived in Dumporijo of the Upper Subansiri district to campaign for Er Tabe Doni, the NPP candidate for the 26th Dumporijo assembly constituency. 

Conrad Sangma reiterated that Arunachal is an inseparable part of India, dismissing China's false claims about Arunachal. 

NPP President Conrad expressed optimism that of the 29 candidates in Arunachal, the NPP is expected to secure victories in double digits.

Thousands of citizens attended the rally where CM Sangma encouraged them to vote for the NPP for a better Northeast.

In a media interaction, Sangma discussed the party's strategy and dismissed allegations of a one crore seizure from his convoy, stating it was another vehicle and that the NPP had clarified the allegations.
