Asaduddin Owaisi backs AIUDF, says ‘29 seats can change Assam’s power equation’
Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on April 3, made a strong pitch for the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), asserting that if the party secures 29 seats, it would hold decisive power in the formation of the next government in Assam.
Addressing a gathering, Owaisi said that such a mandate would ensure that “no one can rule over you except yourselves”, urging voters to support the ideology of Badruddin Ajmal if they want to counter Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Launching an attack on the Congress, he claimed that voting for the party would indirectly benefit the BJP. Referring to the Lok Sabha elections, Owaisi said that despite support for Congress, there had been “no visible change in development”.
He also targeted Congress MP Rakibul Hussain, questioning his effectiveness in Parliament and alleging that he failed to raise strong voices on key issues. Owaisi further criticised Hussain’s response during eviction drives, claiming it did not address the concerns of affected families.
Highlighting his long association with the state, Owaisi said this was not his first visit to Assam, recalling that he had come during the 2012 violence when, according to him, other political leaders had not reached out to support the affected community.
He reiterated that the upcoming election could mark a “turning point”, urging voters to consolidate support behind AIUDF to influence the state’s political future.
