Assam: Baksa district readies for elections with 54 critical, 5 vulnerable polling stations

In anticipation of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for tomorrow, preparations are in full swing in Baksa district, particularly within the 41-Manas and 42-Baksa Assembly constituencies falling under the jurisdiction of the No. 1 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.

Today, the necessary electoral materials were distributed at the Mushalpur Higher Secondary School ground, setting the stage for the electoral process to unfold. It's worth noting that a substantial electorate of 2,03,480 voters is registered in the No. 41 Manas Assembly constituency, comprising 1,02,510 male voters and 1,00,970 female voters. Similarly, the No. 42 Baksa Assembly constituency boasts 1,96,349 voters, including 97,252 male voters and 99,097 female voters, without representation from the third gender.

With the setup of 476 polling stations across both constituencies—236 in Manas and 240 in Baksa—the authorities have identified 54 critical and 54 vulnerable polling stations. Among these, special measures have been taken, including the deployment of women officers and staff at 10 polling stations in Baksa Assembly constituency. Moreover, two model polling stations have been established to ensure efficient and transparent electoral proceedings.
