The political future of Kokrajhar MP Naba Kumar Sarania hangs in the balance once again as the tribal department of the state government has lodged another appeal in court against a prior high court ruling. With the final verdict scheduled for April 19, speculation abounds as to whether the decision will favor Sarania or not.
Speaking at a press conference in Barama, in Baksa district, Sarania made a serious allegation that it was a conspiracy by the Assam government.
He singled out Janak Lal Basumatary and Pramila Rani Brahma, claiming they were acting at the behest of the state government to undermine his position. Sarania asserted that such machinations were aimed at preventing his electoral success in Kokrajhar.
Sarania said that there has been a conspiracy against him in Kokrajhar as he cannot win elections. However, on April 19, the high court will again give its final verdict on the caste certificate, but before that, it will take an alternative route, he said.
"There is no point in joining BJP with the thought of becoming an MP or to get personal benefits. We remain intact in our decision, and our vision doesn't match with the BJP. So I urge you all to take the thought out of your mind that I will join the BJP", says Naba Kumar Sarania.
