BTC Polls 2025: Pramod Boro confident of UPPL majority, blames Hagrama for violence

United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) chief and BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro on September 11 said that his party is set to secure an absolute majority in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections and form the government.

Reacting to the violence that erupted during the poll season, Boro squarely blamed former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary for instigating unrest.

Speaking on key issues dominating the campaign, including allegations of corruption in Village Council Development Committees (VCDC), Boro underlined that the Sixth Schedule autonomous councils in the Northeast have united to push for constitutional amendments.

He said this step was necessary to ensure direct central funding and meaningful rural development across the region.
