BTC Polls: Bodoland Imam Council labels BJP, AIUDF as communal forces, asks minority voters to back regional parties

The Bodoland Imam Council has called upon the minority community in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) to steer clear of political parties that, it alleges, thrive on communal agendas.

Speaking at a press conference at the Kokrajhar Press Club on September 19, Hafiz Katubuddin, President of the Bodoland Imam Council, described the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) as communal forces. He warned that such politics threatens the unity and harmony of India’s diverse society.

“India is like a beautiful flower garden where multiple communities coexist peacefully. Parties that pursue communal politics are harmful to this unity, and we strongly oppose them,” Katubuddin said.

Highlighting the political landscape in the region, he argued that only the regional parties—the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)—present credible alternatives.

He appealed to minority voters to extend their support to these parties to safeguard peace, development, and communal harmony in the BTR.
