The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, led by the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), on Tuesday, August 26 released a detailed five-year performance report titled “Vision to Action”, highlighting achievements in peace-building, infrastructure, education, and governance. The booklet was formally unveiled by Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro at the Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar.
Addressing the press, CEM Boro underscored the establishment of peace as the council’s most significant accomplishment. “Our vision has been to create a Peaceful, Smart, and Green Bodoland, a model we call the Bodoland Model of Peace Development,” he said. Boro reaffirmed the government’s pledge to uphold transparent, accountable, and corruption-free governance while ensuring justice, unity, and happiness for all communities under the motto: “Your Rights, Our Promise.”
The CEM recalled that ethnic unrest often stemmed from land rights disputes in the past. He credited the introduction of the Bwiswmuthi Portal for streamlining land settlement and enabling the distribution of land pattas to thousands of families over the last four and a half years, thereby easing longstanding conflicts.
Detailing achievements across sectors, Boro noted that the BTR administration has:
Constructed 1,000 new school buildings
Developed 1,800 kilometers of roads
Distributed numerous houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
He added that the administration has been operating in a “mission mode”, delivering services round-the-clock and fast-tracking flagship initiatives for the benefit of the people.
In a sharp attack on his predecessor Hagrama Mohilary, who led the region for 17 years, Boro alleged that the former administration was marked by “lawlessness and misrule.” He urged citizens to support only those leaders who prioritize peace and development over personal interests.
The press conference was attended by MP Joyanta Basumatary, MCLA Madhav Chetry, and Kokrajhar Municipal Board chairperson Pratibha Brahma.
