“Congress means anti-native”: BJP MP Dilip Saikia targets Opposition at Golakganj rally

Campaigning intensified in Assam’s Golakganj Assembly constituency on Monday, April 6 as state BJP president and Member of Parliament Dilip Saikia addressed a public rally in support of party candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar.

Saikia arrived at Golakganj Stadium and proceeded to the rally venue at Laximari High School playground as part of a motorcycle procession accompanied by party workers. The event drew a sizable turnout, with BJP leaders projecting the show of strength as part of efforts to consolidate support ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.

Addressing the gathering, Saikia launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party’s political approach runs counter to the interests of indigenous communities. He framed the electoral contest as a choice between development-oriented governance and forces he described as “anti-Assam.”

The BJP leader also targeted Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, referring to recent legal developments involving him. Saikia stated that individuals facing allegations should be prepared to face legal consequences, adding that the matter is already under judicial consideration.

Criticising the opposition’s current position, Saikia said the Congress was grappling with internal challenges and lacked a clear direction. He reiterated the BJP’s development agenda, highlighting the party’s governance record in Assam as a key campaign plank.

The rally concluded with an appeal to voters to support BJP candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar, with Saikia stating that continued political stability was necessary to sustain development initiatives in the state.
