Owaisi blames Congress for BJP’s rise in Assam, alleges 50,000 Muslim homes demolished

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on April 2 launched a sharp attack on both the BJP and the Congress while campaigning in Assam, asserting that his visit is aimed at strengthening Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF ahead of the Assembly elections.

Speaking in Guwahati, Owaisi said he is in the state for two days to campaign in support of AIUDF candidates.

He alleged that under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, “politics of hatred” is being practised in Assam.

Owaisi also criticised the Congress, claiming that it has failed to effectively counter the BJP, and held it responsible for the rise of Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP in the state. He further alleged that over 50,000 houses belonging to Muslims have been demolished, leaving many families homeless.

Stressing the need for political support to AIUDF, Owaisi said backing Badruddin Ajmal’s party is crucial to safeguard the constitutional rights of affected communities.

His remarks are expected to intensify the political contest in Assam, particularly in constituencies with significant minority populations.
