Pawan Khera a ‘Bhagora’, says Himanta Biswa Sarma after voting
Assam Chief Minister and Jalukbari assembly candidate Himanta Biswa Sarma today launched a sharp attack on the Congress party and its senior leader Pawan Khera.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma questioned the relevance of the party in the state, asking, "Where is this Congress party? Which Congress party? I have not even heard about it."
He further targeted Khera, calling him a “bhagora” (absconder), and added, "Why do I need to reply to him?" The remarks come amid heightened political campaigning ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, reflecting Sarma’s aggressive stance against the opposition.
Observers note that Sarma’s comments signal a continued strategy to undermine the Congress’s credibility in Assam, especially in constituencies where the party is struggling to make an impact.
The Congress has not yet responded to Sarma’s remarks.
