Voting BJP is like a pilgrimage, says Raju Mech at Boko rally

BTR Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah campaigned for Raju Mech, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the No. 28 Boko-Chaygaon (ST) Assembly constituency.

Arriving by helicopter at the Boko Gandhi Maidan at around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, they participated in an election campaign rally.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including South Kamrup District BJP President Anjan Goswami, AGP leader and former Boko MLA Jyoti Prasad Das, Kamrup District President of the Rabha Hasong Joint Forum Sumit Rabha, Ramakanta Rabha, and Sonaram Rabha, Chairman of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council. Notably, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Rabha Hasong Joint Forum, and all alliance partners of the BJP are actively campaigning for Raju Mech in the constituency. Thousands of people from various communities and organisational leaders attended the event.

In his speech, NDA candidate Raju Mech urged the public to vote for the BJP, remarking: "Voting for the BJP is a virtuous act (Punya), much like going on a pilgrimage." Mech further stated that the people of Boko are set to elect a BJP MLA for the very first time.

BTR Chief Hagrama Mohilary, appearing as a star campaigner, expressed his delight at the large turnout of women. Known for his wit, Mohilary livened up the meeting, commenting that since women had arrived at the rally, "Goddess Lakshmi" had arrived for the BJP. Delivering his speech in Assamese, Hindi, and Bodo, Mohilary said: "I may be the BTR Chief, but if Raju Mech does not work in Boko, inform Hagrama Mohilary. Hagrama Mohilary works across India. Bodoland Guest Houses have been and will be built in various parts of the country; if necessary, one will also be constructed in the Boko-Chaygaon constituency." He urged the public to vote for Raju Mech on April 9, ahead of the upcoming Bohag Bihu, and assured them that he would stand by the people of the constituency for any of their needs.

Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah highlighted ambitious schemes implemented for women while criticising the Congress party. He remarked "If you vote for Congress, you will get lungis, caps, thread, and blankets. But if you vote for BJP, you will receive ₹9,000, ₹10,000, ₹25,000, or even up to ₹50,000." He assured that if Raju Mech wins in Boko-Chaygaon, women would receive ₹25,000 initially, followed by ₹50,000. Baruah also noted that while people are currently receiving pulses, sugar, and salt from cooperatives for ₹100, these items—along with mustard oil—would be provided for free if the BJP returns to power.
