West Bengal: BJP MP clashes with alleged TMC agent over voting misconduct at Hooghly polling station
An intense argument erupted at a polling station in Dasghara High School under the Hooghly Lok Sabha Constituency in West Bengal, on Monday, as BJP MP and candidate Locket Chatterjee confronted a man she claimed was a Trinamool Congress (TMC) agent.
The incident began when Chatterjee, who is seeking re-election from Hooghly, accused the man of attempting to influence voters inside the polling booth. According to Chatterjee, the individual did not have the necessary documents to serve as a polling agent and was actively campaigning for TMC within the polling station premises.
"He was a TMC agent and does not have any documents. He went inside the booth and kept asking people to vote for TMC. Police are not doing anything," Chatterjee asserted during the confrontation. The heated exchange drew significant attention from both voters and officials present at the polling station.
Following the argument, Chatterjee escorted the man out of the polling station, alleging that the local police were not taking appropriate action against the unauthorized presence and activities of the alleged TMC agent.
No official statement has been released by the local police or the Election Commission regarding the incident at Dasghara High School.
