The sixth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2018 got underway at Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Guwahati from Wednesday.
The four-day festival will showcase films from the region and few from the rest of the country.
A short film contest has been organised by the organizers and will be open to filmmakers from the Northeast. Over 300 short films have been received for the contest out of which the top 15 will be screened at the film festival.
Renowned film personalities like Boman Irani, filmmaker Shakun Batra, writer, director and producer Rajesh Mapuskar are scheduled to attend the film festival.
The festival will also include interactive sessions, film quiz-cinemascope, panel discussions and the award ceremony.
As an opener, ‘Spring Thunder’, directed by Sriram Dalton, film will be screened and Assamese Film ‘Bornodi Bhotiai’, directed by Anupam Kaushik Borah will be the concluding film of the festival
Some of the films from the region to be screened at the festival include ‘Nani Teri Morni’ from Nagaland, ‘Ralang Road’ from Sikkim, ‘Chor’ from Assam and ‘Bornodi Bhotiai’ from Assam. Some of the other feature films to be screened at the festival are ‘Devil’, ‘Rockumentary-Evolution of Indian Rock’, ’The Lost Idea’, ‘IYE: the Others’ among others. Assamese film director Pulak Gogoi will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award on December 1.
