Zoya's filmmaker brother Farhan Akhtar tweeted the big news on social media on Saturday.
Taking to Twitter to convey the news, Zoya's brother Farhan, wrote, "Gully Boy has been selected as India's official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega."
It may be mentioned that Assamese filmmaker Rima Das's 'Village Rockstars' was chosen as India's entry for the Oscars last year, but failed to make the mark.

The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honor the best films of 2019 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on February 9, 2020.
