In an encouraging development for the film-making fraternity of the State of Assam, Assam's pride Rima Das has been promised a sum of Rs. 50 lakh by the Government.

The Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation is all set to provide a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 50 lakhs to Rima for her upcoming film 'Purno Chandra'.

This was announced here today by the AFFDC chairman Jatin Bora. Rima Das was also present during the occasion.

Bora also said that the government of Assam has also resolved to finance filmmakers in the State, which is a great sign of encouragement for all the up-and-coming Assamese filmmakers as per the 'film subsidiary' rules.

The rule also includes documentaries, short films and animation films.

The Government will provide up to Rs 25 lakh to a full-length movie or a children's film. Moreover, animated movies will also be eligible to receive upto Rs. 25 lakh for the movies.

Rima Das is an Indian filmmaker best known for her film, Village Rockstars which won several National and international awards.

She won India's National Best Film and Best Editor Awards, announced on 13 April 2018 by Government of India appointed jury headed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor.

In 2018, GQ India named her as one of the 50 Most Influential Young Indians of 2018.

A Doctorate degree has been conferred to Rima Das at the 3rd convocation of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKSHOU) held at the Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium on February 3.

Rima's second feature film, 'Bulbul Can Sing' is also receiving rave reviews and has been shown in many international film festivals. It may be mentioned that Rima also made her Cannes debut this year and wowed everyone with her unique fashion sense.
