GUWAHATI: Zubeen Garg, the Assamese singer known for belting out fan favorites such as 'Mayabini' and 'Hiya Diya Niya' has officially turned 48 years old today. The singer is among the best-selling musical artists in Assam, and as such commands massive respect across the state. In addition, he has belted out national chartbusters such as 'Ya Ali' due to which he became a household name.
In Assam, Zubeen is not simply a name -- it is an emotion. This year, the singer has organized a Yoga competition at his home in the Kharghuli Hills in Guwahati on the occasion of his birthday.
"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have not organized any special celebration this year. Zubeen Garg fan club will be celebrating my birthday in different districts of Assam, some of them are organizing dance, art competitions," Zubeen told scribes yesterday.
As a "humane gesture," the singer has also taken it upon himself to foot the bills of 5 critically ill patients in the Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital in Guwahati city.
Around 3.30 pm on Tuesday, renowned singer Zubeen Garg reached the Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital. Zubeen along with his wife, eminent fashion designer Garima Saikia Garg, was received by Manoj Kr. Deka, the Chief Executive Officer of Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital.
The team interacted with the hospital management, doctors, and discussed the facilities, service, and infrastructure provided by the hospital. The Assam icon also conveyed his moral support to the patients undergoing treatment for various ailments.
