National Award winning filmmaker from Assam, Hiren Borah’s latest is titled ‘SEEMA – The Untold Story’ (Border – the untold story).
Borah’s latest film is set during the Chinese incursion into India and is loosely based on actual events. The film is produced by Sanjive Narain, under the banner of AM Television Productions.
The film stars George Baker, Nipon Goswami, Arun Nath, Krishna Das Nath, Drishti Rekha Das, among others.
The Sino-Indian War and the long series of events that unfolded have long been a vehicle of inspiration for writers and readers and ‘Seema’ shows the pain and suffering of the residents of Tezpur town in Assam bordering Arunachal Pradesh during the evacuation process of the Chinese aggression.
It is high time that a movie dealing with the anguish and suffering endured by the citizens of Tezpur be told faithfully, evoking the period and providing a backdrop for the interplay of human emotions.
Local actress and arm-wrestling phenomenon Dristi Naina Das, who makes her debut with the film, spoke exclusively to InsideNE about her experience: “This feels like a moment of triumph as I can see posters all over the city.
Initially, I went to meet the Director for an anchoring job, but the Director offered me an acting job. I was taught how to act by the team.”
The budding actress also talked about the struggles of the Assamese film industry. “I hope that won’t affect the film as this film is about the untold stories of the Sino-Indian war.”
The film received a lot of appreciation after a special show was held in a makeshift mobile multiplex cinema hall at the Assam Engineering Institute playground in Chandmari, Guwahati
