B-town celebs have opened up on the massive protests happening across the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Many actors and actresses broke their silence over social media regarding the police clampdown on students (agitators).
Bollywood stars have shared their opinions and perceptions about the police’s actions towards the students. Many Bollywood actors, filmmakers, scriptwriters are seen contributing their opinions and joining the protests against the CAA.
Famous filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt joined a protest meeting against the CAA and mentioned it was time for the people of India to unite together and to send messages across that the country belongs to everyone.

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer. This government is clearly fascist.. and it is making me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet.”
He speaks about how despite the situation is so dire the government isn’t doing anything.
Actress Priyanka Chopra posted, “Education for every child is our dream. Education is what empowered them to thin independently. We have raised them to have a voice. In a thriving democracy, to raise one’s voice peacefully and be met with violence is wrong.”
Deepika Padukone, Meghna Gulzar cancelled the promotion of their upcoming movie, Chapaak in Delhi amid CAA protests.
Alankrita Shrivastava who is an Alumnus of Jamia Millia tweeted, “I studied at Jamia. It is where I trained to be a filmmaker, where I met my best friends for life. It is the place that gave me hope and encouragement when I was a confused young girl trying to navigate my way through life. I have such fond memories. But today....”
Ayushmann Khurrana tweeted on his Instagram page, “Deeply disturbed about what the students went through and I strongly condemn this. All of us have the right to protest and exercise our fundamental freedom of expression.”
Actress Tapsee Pannu shared a video posted by NDTV commenting on it. She tweeted, “Wonder if this is a start or the end. Whatever it is, this is surely writing new rules of the land and those who don’t fit in can very well see the consequences.
This video breaks heart n hopes altogether. Irreversible damage and I’m not talking about just the life n property” on his twitter page.
Sudhir Mishra is an Indian film director and screenwriter twitted, “In 1987 I made a film called Yeh Woh Manzil Toh Nahin on the background of student politics. Towards the climax, the police enter the campus and brutally beat up the students. Nothing has changed. Terrible that now know where the flowers are gone. Crushed!”

India actor Rajkummar Rao, also known as Rajkumar Yadav, tweeted on his page, “I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest. I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!”
Famous Indian actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted, “I stand in solidarity with the students protesting peacefully. What makes our country great is every voice is heard, be it of one person or thousands. I do not support any ind of voience. We are and have aways been proud of our Poice Force. But this time they should have been more compassionate while assessing and tacking the situation. Our students didn’t deserve this.”
Indian actress Richa Chanda twits, “JNU, FTII, AMU, Nalanda, BHU, Cotton University, Jamia Milia ... scared of students much? This is not a coincidence.”
Actor Siddharth quotes, “These two are not Krishna and Arjuna. They are Shakuni and Duryodhana.
Stop attacking #universities! Stop assaulting #students! #JamiaMilia #JamiaProtest”.
