Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan to be Honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Mumbai, September 24, 2019:

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, 76, will receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award - India's highest film honour - this year.

This was conveyed through a tweet by union minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday evening. "The legend Amitabh Bachchan, who entertained and inspired for two generations, has been selected unanimously for Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him", he wrote on Twitter.

Congratulations started pouring in from B-town after this announcement was made for megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

South Indian superstar Rajinikanth wrote in a tweet, "Congratulations dear Amitabh Bachchan ji. You richly deserve this commendable honour."

High calibre artists such as Karan Johar, Reteish Dekhsmukh, as well as Big B's own son, Abhishek, also congratulated the 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' host on the occasion.

Last year, actor Vinod Khanna was conferred the award at the 65th National Awards.
