Assamese filmmaker Rima Das’s National Award-winning ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ hit the theatres on Friday in 30 Cinema Halls across the state on Friday amid much fanfare.
The premiere of the film was attended by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with State Culture Minister Naba Kumar Doley, and other party members.
Congratulating Rima Das on her grand success, Sarbananda Sonowal took to his social media handle and tweeted, “Joined film lovers at the premiere of @rimadasFilm 's 'Bulbul Can Sing' in Guwahati. Through her heart touching movies, Rima Das has beautifully brought out aspirations of the youth from Assam's rural areas. My congratulations and best wishes to her and the entire team.”

Like his debut film 'Village Rockstars', ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ will also receive a push for the Oscars.
It may be mentioned here that the film will hit the theatres of other states on September 27.
The highly acclaimed ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ bagged the Rajat Kamal Award in the regional language film category at the 66th National Film Awards. It also bagged the National Award for the Best Assamese Film for 2019. It also won the Best Indie Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in Victoria, Australia.

‘Bulbul Can Sing’ also won the Golden Gateway Award at the 20th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star.
