Ace music composer Vishal Dadlani launched into cries of "Joi Aai Axom" (glory to mother Assam) in front of thousands of Assamese at the spectacular Dwijing festival, that is now underway in Chirang district of Assam.
Dadlani, who is known for his stance against the amendment of the Citizenship Act, told the crowd, "I do not wish to give a long speech. Like you, I know the current situation in this state. I just wish to say Joi Aai Axom."
Dadlani's chanting of the popular slogan had soon spread like an infection among the 12,000-strong crowd, which followed soon and could raised the same cry.
The 'Malhari' singer later took to Instagram to clarify why he had shouted the slogan atop the stage. In his post, he wrote, "Joi Aai Axom. You know why I said it here, you know why I said it on stage. You know how it felt, saying it together."
However, after facing criticism for his perceived opposition to the 'CAA', Dadlani changed the caption and wrote, "For people asking why I changed the caption, this is the time for everyone to stand for the right causes, together. If a caption divides people even slightly, it's better to change it to bind people together. The battle cannot be won by fighting amongst ourselves. The objective is common, and the oppressor wants to divide us. We will only win if we all speak with one voice!"

It is no secret that Dadlani is opposed to the Indian Government's policy of amending the Citizenship Act. In a recent video, the singing star had queried that at a time when youths are unemployed and farmers are committing suicide en masse, is it really necessary to bring in foreigners?
